The digital nomad in Czech Republic is animmigration program that has been recently implemented in the local law, under the Government Decree No. 475/2023. It has been in force since 1st of July 2023.

- IT specialists;
- marketing specialist (here, the work activities can be related to SEO, social media management, content marketing, advertising, copywriting, etc.).
What education level is accepted in the digital nomad visa program?
Those who will apply for a digital nomad visa as IT specialists must prove that they have completed tertiary STEM education, while those who will apply as marketing specialists need to have higher professional or university education.
What documents must applicants prepare for the application?
Individuals interested in this program must prepare the following documentation:
- the completed application for the issuance of a long-term visa;
- a valid passport;
- recent passport-size photos;
- proof of accommodation in Czech Republic (rental contract);
- proof concerning the purpose of stay (trade license, employment contract, etc.);
- clean criminal record issued by the authorities in the country of residence;
- proof of paying the visa processing fee.
Is it required to participate in an embassy interview?
The applicant is required to participate in an interview with a representative of the embassy/consulate only in the case in which the person applies as a freelancer/self-employed. During the interview, he or she will be asked about relevant matters, such as the ones mentioned below:
- the purpose of stay;
- the work experience relevant to the current work activities of the applicant;
- the educational background;
- the applicant’s ability to understand the social system in Czech Republic, regarding taxation, healthcare, citizen’s rights and obligations and others.
How long does it take to process the visa application in 2026?
In some cases the Czech Republic freelance visa file can be reviewed in a very short period of time, such as 2 weeks, but in general, applicants can expect to have their visa application processed in a period of approximately 45-90 days.
What should visa holders do after the document is approved?
After the arrival in the country, the visa holder has the obligation to address to the Foreign Policeand provide information regarding the address where the person lives.
